HAMMARLUND SP-600 REPLACEMENT FRONT PANEL

I had a bunch of SP-600JX front panels made up. Paul Noel at NEW WAVE FABRICATION in Boynton Beach, Florida did the work. Their phone is (561)740-2393. It is 1/8" alluminum. In the pictures, what looks like blotches in the paint job is just the reflection of my front porch. The new finish is somewhat more shiney than the original Hammarlund paint job. The paint job is quite professional. There are no blotches. The back side is primed as well, so these panels won't corrode like the originals.

All the holes are hand-drilled. The measurements were taken off an original front panel that I had. One of the problems is that the original panel was corroded, so Paul missed the little white arrow below the "BEAT OSC" label and drilled a hole instead (the panel was corroded through there, so a hole is what was in the original that I gave him)

The text is all engraved. It was a problem finding an engraving machine that did work that large, but Paul found one. The engraving is indistinguishable from the original Hammarlund work.

There are only a couple of problems on the front panel. Both were present on the original that I gave Paul to copy from. The first is that the small screw-holes above the tuning bezels were laid out in the pattern for a Navy contract tag. I tend to prefer the ones for the Army Signal Corps tag.

Note that Paul got the three small bulges around the meter hole. These are for the three screws that hold the meter together. Without those, you can't get the meter in.
